ADULT LEADERSHIP
Troop 435 is a Youth Lead troop. Our youth leaders are elected by the troop members. The adult leaders are in place to ensure a safe environment while providing guidance and assistance to the youth as they learn leadership skills.
The adult leaders must have a clear understanding of the hierarchy and roles needed to effetively run the scouting program. The image of the troop organization chart illustrates the positions in the troop.

Tom Hulsman
Chartered Organization Representative – This position is the direct contact between the unit and the Chartered Organization.

Josh Smith
Committee Member/Chair – The troop committee chair is appointed by the chartered organization to see that all committee functions are carried out. The troop committee chair organizes the committee to see that all committee responsibilities are delegated, coordinated, and completed.

Joel Reynolds
Committee Member / Secretary – The Troop Secretary keeps minutes of committee meetings, reports the minutes of the previous meeting.

Kiran K.
Committee Member / Treasurer – The Troop Treasurer handles unit funds, pays bills, maintains unit checking and savings accounts, assists in the preparation of the Troop's annual budget. The Treasurer reports to the troop committee at each committee meeting.

Frank Ley / Tom Shanklin (BORs)
Committee Member / Advancement Chair – The unit Advancement Chair ensures that the unit has regularly sheduled boards of review (BOR), quarterly courts of honor (COH), and is responsible for record keeping and submitting advancement reports.

Geeta (Krisha) Ajwani
Committee Member / New Membership Chair – The New Membership Coordinator creates and assembles new scout binders and parent kits, organizes and puts together Troop Kit supplies, attends recruitment and pack events, maintains recruiting flyer, communicates with new parents to help with transition. This position also maintains the Troop Trading Post and makes it available during Courts of Honor.

Sowmya Sree Veeravatnam
Committee Member / Registrar – The unit Registrar works closely with the New Scout Coordinator to provide a smooth transition from the Pack to the Troop registration. They also, organize, tracks, collects, and submits applications and other paperwork for registration. Annually, this position collects, assembles, and submits annual recharter documents.

Committee Member / New Scout Coordinator – The New Scout Coordinator ensures that the unit has a plan for year-round membership flow into the troop, plans and coordinates the troop's open house and recruitment events to invite non-Scouts into the Troop. Works closely with the neighboring Cub Scout Packs to provide a smooth transition from the Pack to the Troop. Also assists in developing and recruiting den chiefs, and assists in the bridging ceremonies from AOL to the Troop.

Committee Member / Activities Coordinator – The unit Activites Coordinator ensure that the unit has a least one montly outdoor activity, helps in securing reservations to use camping sites, serves as the transportation/carpool coordinator, works with the troop and patrol scribe to ensure permission slips and payments are collected for each outing and coordinates with the Treasurer for all monies collected. This position also promotes the National Camping award and reports to the troop committee at each meeting.

Committee Member / Equipment Coordinator – The unit Equipment Coordinator works with the Green Bar Quartermaster(s) and is responsible for inventory, storage, and maintenance of unit equipment. The Equipment Coordinator make equipment recommendations to the committee and works with the Treasurer.

Committee Member / Fundraiser Coordinator – The unit Fundraiser Coordinator supervises fundraising, coordinates fundraising events for the troop or delegates to an adult member/parent, and ensures that every youth member has the opportunity to participate. The Fundraising Coordinator works closely with the Treasurer.

Brent Lamkin
Committee Member / Training Chair – The unit Training Chair ensures Troop adult leaders and parents are up-to-date on required training, submits certificates as needed, and updates the Committee at meetings.

Rajesh Venkataraman
Scoutmaster – The Scoutmaster is the adult leader responsible for working directly with the Scouts to help them create the program for the troop. The Scoutmaster trains youth leaders to run the troop by providing direction, coaching, and support.

Assistant Scoutmaster – An Assistant Scoutmaster is one of the adult leaders age 18 or over who assist the Scoutmaster in delivering the troop program. Assistant Scoutmasters will be a guide for a designated patrol.

Scout Parents – A Scout Parent is a parent or adult mentor of a Scout who enthusiastically participates with their Scout and volunteers to provide the best quality program experience to all youth in the unit. A Scout Parent is trained in Youth Protection.
The Troop Committee and other Adult positions listed above are just some of the ways to help. Troop 435 is very fortunate to have many more adult volunteers and helpers but can always use more help. Please visit our volunteering page to learn more.
