Thank you for your interest in becoming a Merit badge counselor for Troop 435! Merit badge counselors play a vital role in our scouts journey to reach Eagle. Our scouts are required to complete 21 merit badges, 14 of which are Eagle required. Having access to merit badge counselors within our troop provides quick and easy access to this important scouting function. Becoming a merit badge counselor is a low commitment and rewarding way to be involved with the troop and enrich our scouts!

 

Merit Badge Counselor Application Process

If not done so already please create a my.scouting.org to track your registration and training.

 

Items to Complete / Submit:

​

1. Online Merit Badge Position Training Completion Certificate

   1. Training taken in my.scouting.org portal

2. YPT Certification Certificate

   1. Training taken in my.scouting.org portal

3. Adult Application

   1. A separate application must be submitted in addition to registered adult positions

   2. Complete & sign pgs 3&6

4. Merit badge Counselor Information Form

   1. List of Merit Badges

   2. Specialized qualifications for certain merit badges

5. Mandated Reporter & Live Scan

   1. Complete steps 1, 2, & 3

   2. Upload both items through portal on link above

 

Merit badge Counselor Cost:

​

• Registered adults, No charge.

• Non registered adults, $ 50 per year. ($25 national fee, $25 GEC council fee)

  • Cash or check made out to Troop 435

• Merit badge registration good for one calendar year from submission of application

 

This may seem like a lot of information to take in, however your investment in this process will lend to maintaining a healthy and active troop!
