The Purpose of Troop 435 Meetings

  • Learn and practice Scouting skills - One meeting a month, scouts learn and practice skills that they will need for an upcoming activity, to help them advance in rank, or just may need in life.

  • Prepare for outings - Scouts make plans, develop menus, check equipment and handle other details related to any upcoming outings or activity.

  • Develop leadership skills - Scout Troops are typcially "scout-run" so troop meetings are planned and conducted by the Scouts themselves. This independence lets them strengthen leadership skills that can only be learned through practice and demonstration of their position of responsibility. Adult leaders are always present for guidance and safety.

  • Patrol development - Patrols meet to work on skills, advancement, and plan for meeting elements like games, flag ceremonies, and activities.

  • Monthly PLC meetings - These are special meetings typically held on the last Thursday of the month where Scouts in leadership positions get together to plan activities for upcoming months. Click here to learn more about PLC Meetings.

  • Promote advancement and personal growth - Individual Scouts have an opportunity to get advancement requirements signed off or to complete a Scoutmaster conference. Merit Badge classes are sometimes held during troop meetings.

  • Have fun! - Games, hands-on learning, common goals, and time with friends all make troop meetings fun.
